작은 숲과 같은 집

As sunlight filters through the gap between the roof and walls, it casts a play of light and shadow, reminiscent of a forest canopy. This effect transforms the trees within the house into a miniature woodland. The entire tree structure is composed of intricate wooden joinery, showcasing the inherent strength and beauty of engineered timber while paying homage to traditional construction methods.

The three towering trees within this hexagonal dwelling create an interior space that echoes the building's unique footprint. Serving as structural anchors, these trees not only support the roof but also define the interior ambiance. The surrounding walls, while providing insulation during Korea's harsh winters, also contribute to the overall visual experience. This interplay between the trees and walls results in a space that feels both enclosed and open, with carefully placed apertures offering curated views of the exterior.

대지 형상을 따라 일그러진 육각형의 건물에 대응하면서 계획된 세 개의 나무는 내부 공간을 만들어 낸다. 세 개의 나무는 지붕을 지탱하기 위한 최소한의 요구 조건이기도하다. 구조와 별개로 집을 감싸는 벽이 요구되었다. 단열을 위함이기도 하고 그리 아름답지 않은 주변을 가리기 위함이기도 하다. 의도적으로 또는 결과적으로 내부에는 오직 공간과 사람만이 남게 되었다. 시간의 흐름은 나무와 벽의 틈을 통한 빛을 통해 느낀다. 숲에서 떨어지는 빛과 같다. 나무가 모이면 숲이 된다. 집의 나무는 결구와 맞춤으로 이루어진다. 전통 방식을 재해석했음에도 못을 사용하지 않음은 과거 건축의 방식을 따르려는 의도가 아니다. 나무의 결합만으로도 지붕을 지탱할 수 있는 재료가 가진 순수한 힘을 보여주기 위함이다. 최초의 집도 그 힘에 대한 믿음으로 만들어졌을 것이다.

또한, 세그루집은 집의 원초적인 의미에 대해 질문을 던진다. 집은 가족이라는 사회를 이루는 기본 단위체를 위한 하나의 방 또는 공간에서 시작하였을 것이다. 집은 결국 가족이라는 작은 공동체를 형상화한 것이다. 이러한 측면에서 프로젝트는 기능으로서의 집보다는 가족, 그들만을 위한 공간이 어떻게 정의될 수 있는가에 더 큰 의미를 둔다. 20년 이상을 흩어져 지냈던 자녀와 부모는 시간이 지나 서로 허물이 없어질 때가 됐을 때 한 공간에서 함께 보낸다는 것의 의미가 가족에게 얼마나 중요한 것인지 알게 되었다. 자녀들에게 그들의 자녀가 생겼을 때가 그 시점일 것이다. 이집의 가족들도 집을 물리적인 결과물로 보기 보다는 가족의 결속을 만들어내는 객체로 인식하였다.
