Jae K Kim
Jae K Kim has established a distinctive practice through his exploration of “Reimagining East Asian Timber Architecture,” integrating research, education, and design practice. As the founder of JK-AR, he has realized projects including House of Three Trees (2019), Pavilion of Floating Lights (2022), and House for Rejuvenation (2025). His architecture reinterprets the tectonic intelligence of traditional East Asian timber construction, transforming inherited building knowledge into contemporary spatial and structural forms.
As an educator and researcher, he leads the CoDe Lab at Hanyang University, fostering a culture of digital craftsmanship. His recent book, Timbercraft: Lost Tectonics from East Asia (2026, nai010 Publishers), investigates the lost tectonic knowledge of East Asian timber architecture through comparative analysis, analytical drawings, and contemporary design research.
